Kait Monroe was born in Wilmington Delaware in 1983 and was raised on a tree farm in Sussex County Delaware with her 5 sisters. Monroe is a painter of oil portraits and figures. She is influenced by her medical background in nursing and her love of the ocean that she grew up swimming in and the woods that she spent hours daydreaming in. For inspiration, Monroe looks to idealistic painters like Abbott Thayer and Impressionist artists like John Singer Sargent. Her favorite contemporary artists are Hollis Dunlap, Jenny Saville, and Natalia Fabia.
Monroe resides with her husband and two daughters on their farmette in the coastal town of Lewes, Delaware where she and her husband grow native plants, keep laying hens as pets, and have an unruly garden.
Monroe received the Title 'BEST IN SHOW' August 2022, at the 10th Regional Juried Biennial Exhibition at the Rehoboth Art League for her large painting 'Siren' (30"x48''). This Juried call was very competitive with 68 works chosen from a field of 212.
This call was open to artists living in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington D.C.
Kait Monroe exhibited her painting 'Intuitive Impressions' in a juried show for the Chris White Gallery @chriswhitegallery from May-June 2022 chriswhitegallery.com
The Chris White Gallery is a two-level exhibition space housed on the first floor and basement of Shipley Artist Lofts, located in downtown Wilmington, Delaware.
Monroe creates Portraits and Oil figures by commission. A popular request is for her underwater photoshoots and boudoir photoshoots that she then renders in an oil painting. Aside from creating commissioned works, Monroe paints figures that are available for sale directly or at the Rehoboth Art League in Delaware.
